Privacy Policy for London Pets
This Privacy Policy explains how Who'sThat ("we", "us") handles information when you use the London Pets Android app. It is intended to meet Google Play User Data policy expectations for transparency.
1. Who we are
London Pets is a neighbourhood directory and community chat app for pet owners and local pet businesses in London. It is published by Who'sThat (Whosthat). More neighbourhood apps for better living may follow under the same developer account.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may process the following categories of data:
- Profile details you enter: display name, neighbourhood or area, and pet details such as name, breed, and age. These are stored on your device in app preferences.
- Messages and chat content: text and related chat metadata you send in neighbourhood or business chat features. Messages may be stored locally on your device and, when cloud chat is enabled, on our cloud providers (including Google Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage).
- Media and microphone access: if you grant permission, the app may use the microphone or device storage to support chat or media features you choose to use.
- Push notification tokens: if notifications are enabled, a device token may be processed through Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can deliver app notifications.
- Technical and diagnostic data: basic device and app technical information needed to run online features (for example network connectivity status). We do not sell personal information.
- Directory content: business listing information shown in the app is product content (for example names, categories, and publicly listed details), not personal data collected from your private contacts.
We do not require you to create a traditional password account to browse the directory. Features that sync chat to the cloud only process the data needed for those features.
3. Permissions the app may request
- Internet / network state: to load online features and sync chat where enabled.
- Microphone: only if you use audio-related chat features.
- Photos / storage: only if you attach or save media.
- Notifications: to send optional reminders or chat alerts.
You can deny or revoke permissions in Android settings. Some features may then be unavailable.
4. How we use information
- To provide the London Pets directory, business pages, and neighbourhood chat.
- To save your in-app profile and preferences on your device.
- To deliver messages and notifications you ask for.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app.
- To respond when you contact us at [email protected].
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only:
- With service providers that host or deliver app features (for example Google Firebase for cloud messaging, Firestore, or storage), under their terms and security controls.
- When you choose to send a message in a chat room, other participants in that conversation can see the content you send.
- If required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request.
- To protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, the public, or Who'sThat.
6. Data retention
Profile preferences remain on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app. Cloud chat messages and related files are retained while needed to provide the service, or until deletion is reasonably requested and technically feasible. Backups and logs may persist for a limited period for reliability and security.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
London Pets is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. International processing
If cloud features are enabled, your data may be processed on servers outside your country (including by Google Firebase infrastructure). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers.
10. Your choices and rights
- Edit or clear profile details in the app, or clear app storage in Android settings.
- Revoke microphone, storage, or notification permissions in system settings.
- Uninstall the app to remove local app data from your device.
- Email [email protected] to ask questions, request deletion of cloud-held chat data where identifiable, or raise a privacy concern.
If you are in the UK or EEA, you may also have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, and objection under applicable data protection law. You may contact your local supervisory authority if you have a complaint.
11. Advertising and tracking
London Pets is not designed around third-party advertising networks. We do not use your personal information to sell ads. If this changes in a future release, we will update this policy and, where required, in-app disclosures before collecting additional data.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you should review the revised policy.
